The peerless Rei Kawakubo founded Comme des Garçons in 1969, and launched the menswear line in 1984. The pioneering label continues to redefine the avant-garde in its Comme des Garçons Homme Plus mainline collections, and the Shirt line, since 1988, transfers Kawakubo's ethos to a more casual outlet.
