UEG is a project designed to play on the concept of consumption, using the language of symbols and icons to remind the wearer of the temporal nature of today’s existence, how everything literally washes off of us. The name UEG »Usa e Getta,« in Italian means »Use and Throw Away.« It is this premise of desirable objects designed to deteriorate that drives the whole project.
UEG is the brainchild of the Polish duo Ania Kuczynska and Michal Lojewski. She is a fashion designer, known for her stark yet feminine collections, while he is one of the country’s top graphic designer and a founding member of WhiteCatStudio. In the end of 2005, Ania decided to leave the project. Today UEG is created and run by Michal Lojewski.
The UEG paper coat and the paper blazer are worn by designer Filip Pagowski and Karol Radziskewski and are part of the FAMOUS collection. They’re made out of the thickest Tyvek® material, have an underlining made from the light Tyvek® and have a single front button (blazer) or a single row of three buttons (coat). Both are water resistant, breathable, washable and have a high performance.
