Mariel Manuel is a 2010 MA graduate from the prominent Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. From an early age she travelled the world with her family. Travels that inspired the fascinating fashion fairytales depicted in her many sketch books. In collaboration with Weekday Mariel Manuel presents 'Deep into the woods', an extraordinary collection inspired by people that reject society and prefer a life in the wild nature.

It all started with a trip to Iceland. Cédric Jacquemyn is a 2009 graduate from the prestigious Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Antwerp, Belgium. His poetic collection ›Viðrar vel til Loftárása‹ for Weekday is inspired by the overwhelming landscapes of Iceland. The breaking ice translates into the movement of fabric while the colours unite the black desert beaches near Vìk and the shiny white icecap of Vatnajökull.

Matthieu Thouvenot’s collection for Weekday is a playful take on the typical bourgeois countryside dress. Thouvenot is a 2010 graduate from Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, who often draws inspiration from the hidden symbols and implicit codes in different styles of dressing. In this charming collection bourgeois classics such as tweed, leather and golden buttons are combined in new and inspiring ways.

Demanding but endlessly creative. The Antwerp Royal Academy of Fine Arts is one of the world’s leading incubators for design talents. This year’s graduates include Cédric Jacquemyn, Mariel Manuel and Matthieu Thouvenot. In collaboration with Weekday each of them has created a collection that defines their own expression. The collections are in all Weekday stores since this month!
