People often say »Models are the most beautiful creature in the world.« They sure are! Whether just strolling down the street in an old t-shirt or smoking outside a random building, they are just so easy to be recognized as if there is a spotlight following them everywhere.
Born and raised in Brazil, Francisco Lachowski is seen in practically every major show in every fashion capital. New York is the city where he started off his year, then 6 months in Paris before going to Milan, and sometimes two months in Japan. Not only didn’t this nomadic lifestyle wear him down, but to this fresh 19-year-old face from Ford Models, it actually energizes him. »I like travelling.« He says with a smile on his face. »I like meeting people and making new friends,« which according to him is also what he likes about modelling. Without even a trace of glamour, he showed up at the photo shoot carrying a skateboard looking so carefree and friendly. Seeing Francisco for the first time kind of suprised me. Not only is he as casual and guileless as a little boy, but he also has a suprisingly buff body for such an innocent face.
»Do you have to bust your a** working out every day to stay in shape?» I asked. He said he was actually asked not to be so built to fit certain European fashion, »but if I work out one day at the gym my body goes so big!« He says, indicating with an exaggerated gesture just how big he can get. Must be hard for him, this atheletic boy says he likes to play all kinds of sports – surfing, skateboarding, soccer, tennis… you name it! I wondered, »Do you even like fashion?« At first he was stunned by this question then said he admires the creativity of fashion masterminds and enjoys wearing their clothes (his favorite designers are Dolce&Gabbana and D-Squared), but he likes the outdoors more.
Ever since winning the Ford Supermodel Contest in Curitiba, Brazil in 2008, Francisco Lachowski has been a rising star in the male modeling world. His presence in the fashion industry is just another reason to get excited about magazine editorials and runway shows. I look forward to seeing his continuous appearance and transformation!
